Pastoral Support Manager

We are seeking to appoint a compassionate, dedicated and highly organised Pastoral Support Manager to play a pivotal role in supporting wellbeing, behaviour and attendance of our pupils and their families. This role is central to the school's safeguarding provision and to the promotion of excellent attendance and punctuality, ensuring that pupils are given the best opportunity to succeed. The successful candidate will support pupils' emotional wellbeing and work to remove barriers to learning through effective collaboration with families, staff and external agencies.
Responsibilities- Become a designated safeguarding lead.
- Manage all aspects of pupil attendance, punctuality and well being.
- Fully understand and keep updated with Government guidance and legislation in respect of attendance and children's well being.
- Manage effective communication with all staff, children and families regarding identified pupils.
- Be familiar with and apply Birmingham's Support First Attendance Framework.
- Manage the school's 'Early Help' intervention programme in regards to attendance and pupil well being including writing to and meeting with parents when there are areas of concern.
- Be the focal point of contact between various agencies where a multiple agency approach is required.
- Hold daily drop in sessions for pupils, offering and providing support and/or counselling to individual children and groups of children as and when the need arises.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with families and external agencies to support young people and developing relevant interventions. The role will require considerable skills in liaising sensitively with parents/carers, pupils, teachers, and other external agencies, with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships - a key to the success of the role. A caring and compassionate nature, the ability to be resilient and calm under pressure are essential.

This post is also covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.
