About the role

This role supports membership growth and retention within Surf Life Saving (SLS) NSW by delivering projects, events and activities in relation to nippers, youth and parent participation and engagement.

This role requires strong project management and member engagement experience with skills across a range of diverse groups. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders to plan, implement and evaluate projects as part of the Membership Strategy to support active and increased participation across Surf Life Saving.

Some of the key duties will include:
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to plan, implement, and evaluate projects focused on engaging and retaining parents and young people in Surf Life Saving activities.
  • Provide seasonal support for volunteers delivering the SLSNSW Nipper program, including pre-season, in-season, and off-season assistance.
  • Assist in the implementation of the Duke of Edinburgh Program within the Surf Life Saving NSW framework.
  • Support the organisation and execution of youth-oriented events and programs.
  • Develop and maintain resources and communications to aid members in their Surf Life Saving involvement.
  • Manage and update content/resources on the SLSNSW website.
What you'll need:
  • An understanding of youth engagement or youth development best practices.
  • Experience in project and event coordination, particularly youth-focused projects and parent participation.
  • Experience in developing a wide range of written resources and communications for a range of audiences, including parents, youth, and age managers.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining relationships within a sporting or not for profit environment.
  • Ability to independently conduct research using a range of sources, analysing findings to support content development or responses to queries.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, competing demands, and multitask.
  • Sound computer skills particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Flexible attitude to work, including some evening and weekend work.
