We are currently hiring a Paediatric - Staff Nurse PACU for a leading Hospital in Dublin, Ireland .

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, family-centred nursing care to paediatric patients by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualised care plans in line with clinical best practice.
  • Perform patient assessments, monitor and document clinical observations, identify changes in condition, and promptly communicate concerns to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Safely administer medications, treatments, and physician-prescribed interventions while adhering to infection prevention, aseptic techniques, and hospital policies.
  • Coordinate and support patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring accurate documentation, continuity of care, and effective patient handover.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records, ensuring compliance with professional standards, legal requirements, and hospital documentation policies.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, families, and the multidisciplinary team to promote effective communication, patient education, health promotion, and positive clinical outcomes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, accreditation programmes, risk management activities, and the implementation of evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Support ward operations by managing resources efficiently, escalating clinical issues appropriately, handling complaints professionally, and deputising for the Nurse Manager when required.
  • Contribute to the education and development of student nurses, newly appointed staff, and colleagues through clinical supervision, mentorship, orientation, and ongoing professional development.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by maintaining mandatory training, adhering to hospital policies, practising effective time management, promoting patient safety, and remaining flexible to meet service and departmental needs.
Requirements
  • NMBI Registered Children's Nurse licence in good standing, or NMBI Registered General Nurse (RGN) licence with a minimum of 2 years' paediatric nursing experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical/Surgical Ward experience preferred.
  • Recent and relevant experience in paediatric nursing within an acute hospital setting.
  • Knowledge of paediatric nursing practices, pain assessment and management, Child Protection Policy, and current national nursing guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively support children and their families.
  • Strong teamwork, organisational, planning, and time management skills, with flexibility to work rotational shifts, including nights and on-call duties.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate, family-centred care while maintaining professionalism, adaptability, and patient safety standards.
