Operations Manager
Ómós is a 16-bedroom Guesthouse and 40-seat Restaurant set on 4.2 acres located just outside the heritage town of Abbeyleix, County Laois.
The name Ómós - meaning honour, duty, and respect - reflects our intention behind this project: to create something lasting and meaningful; something with soul.
We have built a Guesthouse and Restaurant that feel like they belong, reflects our neighbourhood and community, and generously welcomes curiosity, craft, and discovery.
Here at Ómós, we pride ourselves on our standards, uniqueness, and our guest experience and we are now seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager, reporting into our General Manager in the day-to-day management of our Guesthouse and Restaurant.
This is a key role responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence and coordinating our team across our Guesthouse and Restaurant.
The successful candidate will work closely with the General Manager to deliver strategic and operational objectives of the business while deputising in his absence.
The successful candidate will be an ambitious Operations Manager or Hotel Manager who is passionate about hospitality and withstrong management background in boutique hotels, luxury guesthouses or destination hospitality venues.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Support the General Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Guesthouse and Restaurant.
- Lead daily operational briefings and ensure seamless communication across our team.
- Take responsibility for the Guesthouse and Restaurant in the General Manager's absence.
- Ensure consistently high standards of service, presentation and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee all operations across the Guesthouse and Restaurant, ensuring daily tasks and operational duties are performed consistently to the highest standard across the board.
- Streamline and coordinate all media visits, exclusive buyouts and additional guest experiences that are booked, ensuring each is planned and delivered seamlessly across all departments.
- Work closely with the Reservations Manager to maximise occupancy across both the Guesthouse and Restaurant, ensuring strong communication between reservations and the operational teams.
- Ensure the Guesthouse and wider property are kept in excellent working order, overseeing all maintenance requirements and cleaning standards alongside the Housekeeping Manager.
Guest Experience:
- Champion a personalised guest experience at every touchpoint.
- Resolve guest questions professionally and proactively.
- Monitor guest feedback and implement continuous improvements.
- Lead, coach and develop departmental supervisors and facility teams.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working culture in line with Ómós values
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching and mentoring of our teams.
- Ensure staffing levels meet operational requirements and defined budgets.
Restaurant & Guesthouse Operations:
- Work closely with the Head Chef and Restaurant Manager to ensure exceptional food and beverage service.
- Oversee accommodation operations, ensuring guest rooms and public areas consistently meet Ómós expectations.
- Manage the Garden and Facilities departments ensuring all projects are completed.
- Coordinate all departments to deliver a seamless guest experience.
- Assist in achieving budgeted revenue and targets.
- Monitor staffing costs and departmental expenditure.
- Produce data for monthly pay run and coordinate annual leave requests
- Support stock control, purchasing and supplier relationships.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and revenue.
Compliance & Health & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
- Maintain operational policies, procedures and company standards.
- Promote a safe working environment for employees and guests.
- Minimum 5 years' management experience within a boutique hotel, guesthouse, country house hotel or destination restaurant with accommodation.
- Proven experience managing multi-department hospitality operations.
- Strong people leadership and team development skills.
- Experience delivering exceptional guest service in a premium hospitality environment.
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of budgets, labour management and operational KPIs.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
