Night Trainee Leakage Inspector

Role Summary

The Trainee Night Leakage Inspector will work alongside the Night Leakage Inspector and support advanced investigation activities in the most problematic and challenging district metered areas (DMAs) across the region. They will assist in step testing and complex leakage investigation activities to locate and promote leakage for repair, and carry out DMA optimisation, meter servicing, commercial usage investigations, and work directed by Engineering Teams.

Work Pattern & Hours

Permanent role, 37hrs per week.

• Rolling pattern: 3 weeks of nights (Monday to Thursday, 4 9.25 hrs from 20:45 to 06:30) followed by 1 week of days (Monday to Friday, 5 7.4 hrs from 08:00 to 16:00).

Location

Harrogate or Thirsk area, North Yorkshire.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the Night Leakage Inspector to support advanced investigation activities.
• Assist in step testing and complex leakage investigation activities to locate and promote leakage for repair.
• Carry out DMA optimisation, meter servicing, commercial usage investigations, and work directed by Engineering Teams.
• Prioritise health, safety and wellbeing of self and others.
• Apply learning from training and new technologies to safeguard the water network.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work unsociable hours (consecutive nights).
• Full EU driving licence with a maximum of 6 points.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Proficiency in corporate systems and IT applications.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a commercial or regulated environment.
• Background in water, wastewater, utilities, or manufacturing.
• Data analysis skills.
• Knowledge of leakage principles.
