Medical Receptionist - Victoria Practice

Victoria Practice is a small, but busy GP practice in the heart of Leith. We are looking for a friendly, professional, and highly organised Medical Receptionist to join our dedicated team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to providing a high standard of care and support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcoming patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
• Answering incoming telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
• Booking, cancelling, and managing appointments
• Signposting patients to the most appropriate clinician or service
• Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures
• Maintaining and updating patient records accurately
• Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
• Supporting clinicians and the wider practice team with administrative tasks
• Maintaining confidentiality at all times in accordance with GDPR and NHS guidelines

About You

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good IT and keyboard skills
• Ability to prioritise workload and multitask effectively
• Positive, professional, and empathetic approach
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work as part of a busy team
• Previous GP practice, NHS, or healthcare reception experience
• Knowledge of Vision and Docman
• Experience handling confidential information
• Understanding of primary care services
