Victoria Practice is a small, but busy GP practice in the heart of Leith. We are looking for a friendly, professional, and highly organised Medical Receptionist to join our dedicated team on a full-time, permanent basis.
As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to providing a high standard of care and support.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Welcoming patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Answering incoming telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
- Booking, cancelling, and managing appointments
- Signposting patients to the most appropriate clinician or service
- Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures
- Maintaining and updating patient records accurately
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Supporting clinicians and the wider practice team with administrative tasks
- Maintaining confidentiality at all times in accordance with GDPR and NHS guidelines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT and keyboard skills
- Ability to prioritise workload and multitask effectively
- Positive, professional, and empathetic approach
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a busy team
- Previous GP practice, NHS, or healthcare reception experience
- Knowledge of Vision and Docman
- Experience handling confidential information
- Understanding of primary care services
