Hays are working with a Manufacturing business in Telford who are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Operations Manager to lead our manufacturing operations across a multi-shift environment. This role is pivotal in driving performance, ensuring compliance, and delivering high-quality output while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Your new role
Your role will involve:
Operational Leadership
- Lead and manage a multifunctional team including Works Managers, Supervisors, and Operators across 3 shifts.
- Drive shift performance, manufacturing output, and delivery targets.
- Plan and allocate workload in collaboration with the leadership team.
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance efficiency.
- Monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
- Prepare and present regular reports on performance metrics and operational KPIs.
- Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on targets, arrears, and operational challenges.
- Ensure quality standards are met with a "right first time" approach.
- Communicate directly with customers regarding production queries and delivery expectations.
- Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, development, and capital investment.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
- Oversee stock control of critical plant materials, consumables, PPE, chemicals, and waste management in collaboration with the QHSE team.
- Plan workforce requirements including recruitment, overtime, and holiday coverage.
- Ensure health and safety compliance across all operational areas, including PPE usage and site standards.
