Manufacturing Office Manager

Hays are working with a Manufacturing business in Telford who are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Operations Manager to lead our manufacturing operations across a multi-shift environment. This role is pivotal in driving performance, ensuring compliance, and delivering high-quality output while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Your new role
Your role will involve:
Operational Leadership

  • Lead and manage a multifunctional team including Works Managers, Supervisors, and Operators across 3 shifts.
  • Drive shift performance, manufacturing output, and delivery targets.
  • Plan and allocate workload in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance efficiency.
Performance & Compliance
  • Monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on performance metrics and operational KPIs.
  • Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on targets, arrears, and operational challenges.
Customer & Quality Focus
  • Ensure quality standards are met with a "right first time" approach.
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding production queries and delivery expectations.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, development, and capital investment.
Procurement & Stock Control
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
  • Oversee stock control of critical plant materials, consumables, PPE, chemicals, and waste management in collaboration with the QHSE team.
Workforce Planning & Safety
  • Plan workforce requirements including recruitment, overtime, and holiday coverage.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance across all operational areas, including PPE usage and site standards.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven experience in a senior operations or manufacturing management role within an engineering or industrial environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with a "get-up-and-go" attitude.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confident team player and leader with a focus on achieving business objectives.
