WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

To become a Lecturer in our SEN department, we need someone who is experienced, supportive and has a passion for teaching.

The successful candidate will have the chance to acquire new skills and develop their abilities in a wide range of activities.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging learning programmes that meet curriculum requirements and support learners with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
• Develop lesson plans, schemes of work and learning resources that promote learner progress and achievement.
• Monitor, assess and track learner progress, providing regular assessment opportunities, constructive feedback and individualised support.
• Maintain accurate learner records, including individual learning plans (ILPs), attendance registers and progress documentation.
• Lead and contribute to assessment and internal quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with awarding body and college requirements.
• Support learners to achieve their educational, personal and career goals, acting as a personal tutor and referring students to specialist support services where appropriate.
• Contribute to quality improvement activities, course reviews, curriculum meetings and the ongoing development of learning programmes.
• Liaise effectively with colleagues, parents/carers and other departments to support learner success and review Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes.
• Participate in learner recruitment, interviews, parent evenings and reporting processes as required.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and college policies, promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults at all times.

• Job Description AIM AND PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • To plan and deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment activities to learners with SpLD who have moderate to severe learning difficulties and disabilities. Will be responsible for developing schemes of work and teaching main qualification, English and Math, tutorial and RARPA aims to special educational and high needs learners across a range of programmes within SEN and associated areas.
  • To complete all the necessary administrative and developmental duties associated with the teaching role and that contribute to improving standards and achievements and the learner experience
  • To take an active part in the recruitment of learners, providing appropriate advice and guidance.
  KEY ROLES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality learning programmes that meet curriculum requirements and support learners to achieve their full potential.
  • Develop and maintain schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment schedules, and learning resources that are inclusive, engaging, and accessible to learners with a wide range of abilities, learning needs, and disabilities.
  • Create a positive, supportive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes learner participation, independence, confidence, and achievement.
  • Deliver effective teaching, learning, and assessment activities, using a variety of teaching methods and digital learning technologies to enhance the learner experience.
  • Regularly assess and monitor learner progress through both formative and summative assessment methods, providing timely, constructive feedback and setting clear targets for improvement.
  • Support learners to develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to successfully achieve their qualifications and progress to further education, employment, or independent living.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor for a designated group of students, providing ongoing pastoral, academic, and developmental support to maximise attendance, engagement, wellbeing, and achievement.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of learner progress, attendance, performance, assessments, and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), ensuring compliance with college procedures and quality standards.
  • Work closely with curriculum colleagues, support services, parents/carers, and external agencies to identify and respond to individual learner needs and remove barriers to learning.
  • Lead and contribute to assessment, internal verification, moderation, and quality assurance processes, ensuring that awarding body and college requirements are consistently met.
  • Participate in course reviews, self-assessment reports (SARs), curriculum evaluation activities, and continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance learner outcomes and programme effectiveness.
  • Support the recruitment, induction, enrolment, and progression of learners, including conducting interviews, attending open events, preparing reports, and contributing to parent/carer meetings.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews, target setting, and the ongoing review of learner support needs and outcomes.
  • Promote high expectations of behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and learner conduct, implementing effective strategies to address concerns and encourage positive engagement.
  • Refer learners to appropriate support services, including counselling, careers guidance, learning support, and safeguarding teams, when additional intervention is required.
