Department:Additional Learning Support

Reporting to:Additional Learning Support Team Leader

Annual Leave:N/A - Term time only role.

Contractual hours:37 hours per week

Salary:£19,727 to £20,628 per annum (actual salary)

Basis:Full Time, Term Time Only 38 weeks, Permanent

This is a rewarding role where you will play a key part in helping students thrive and reach their potential.

As an LSA, you will provide in-class and out-of-class support to learners with a range of additional needs, including those with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, autism spectrum conditions, and mental health needs. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to help ensure students' support needs are fully met, empowering them to engage confidently in their learning journey.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Support students in a range of classroom settings across the college.
  • Assist with the delivery of individual learning plans.
  • Promote student independence, confidence, and self-advocacy.
  • Help to create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
  • Contribute to regular reviews and support planning.
What We're Looking For:

We seek candidates who:

  • Hold a relevant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in supporting students with learning difficulties or care needs or be committed to working towards this within an agreed timeframe.
  • Have achieved Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications)
  • Be open and willing to complete all mandatory training relevant to the role.
  • Have a Level 2 vocational qualification (desirable).
  • Hold a Moving and Handling qualification (desirable).
  • Hold a First Aid and/or Safe Handling of Medication qualification (desirable).
  • Have experience or knowledge of working with students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Ideally, bring vocational experience in a relevant subject area (desirable)
  • Has experience working with young people or adults with additional needs (desirable)
  • Is empathetic, patient, and resilient.
  • Works well as part of a team, but also shows initiative when working independently.
  • Is committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
