Role OverviewChosen Care Group is seeking an experienced and values-driven Registered Care Manager to lead and oversee our learning disability and autism services within supported living and single-occupancy placements.
The Registered Care Manager will be responsible for the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of person-centred care for adults with autism, learning disabilities, sensory processing difficulties, complex needs, and behaviours that challenge.
This role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and a commitment to Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), trauma-informed practice, and structured, consistent care delivery.
The successful candidate will be registered (or eligible to register) with the Care Quality Commission and demonstrate the ability to lead teams to deliver outstanding, outcome-focused support.
Key ResponsibilitiesRegulatory & Compliance- Register with and maintain compliance under the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
- Ensure services meet all relevant legislation including the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations
- Maintain high standards aligned with CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, Well-led)
- Oversee audits, quality assurance systems, and continuous improvement plans
- Ensure safe recruitment practices and robust staff vetting
- Lead, manage, and develop Support Workers and Team Leaders
- Promote a positive, reflective, and supportive team culture
- Provide regular supervision, appraisal, and performance management
- Ensure staffing levels meet individual support needs (1:1 and 2:1 packages)
- Oversee induction and ongoing specialist training programmes
- Ensure high-quality, person-centred support plans are developed, implemented, and reviewed
- Embed Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and low-arousal approaches
- Promote emotional regulation, structured routines, and meaningful engagement
- Ensure safe and effective support for individuals with epilepsy and complex health conditions
- Support safe transitions (e.g., children's to adult services)
- Act as Safeguarding Lead within the service
- Ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed promptly and appropriately
- Oversee risk assessments, behaviour support plans, and incident management
- Ensure trauma-informed and least-restrictive practice
- Work collaboratively with families, commissioners, social workers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Attend reviews, strategy meetings, and professional forums
- Maintain positive relationships with local authorities and healthcare partners
- Oversee rota management and resource planning
- Manage budgets in line with organisational expectations
- Monitor KPIs, service performance, and outcomes
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting systems are maintained
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in learning disability services
- Strong knowledge of CQC regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting adults with autism, learning disabilities, and behaviours that challenge
- Understanding of sensory processing needs and emotional regulation
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage complex services and maintain calm under pressure
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience managing supported living or single-occupancy placements
- Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act and DoLS
- Experience supporting complex behavioural transitions
- Experience in service mobilisation and new package set-up
