Lead Pharmacist - Emergency Department

Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist with a passion for emergency care to join our clinical pharmacist team at University Hospitals Sussex. This role is for the lead pharmacist for our Emergency Department at St Richards Hospital. The successful candidate will be engaged in actively reviewing patients in ED and will have close contact with clinical teams to help provide excellent standards of care. We seek a clinically experienced pharmacist with a passion to develop skills in this area.

Main Duties

To provide pharmacy leadership and development of specialist clinical pharmacy services to the Emergency Department at St Richards Hospital. The post holder will be a key member of both the pharmacy and emergency department teams, supporting the Pharmacist Team Leader - Clinical - Medicine to ensure that a high quality, patient orientated clinical pharmacy service is developed and provided to the EDs within the Trust. On a day to day basis the post holder will provide a clinical pharmacy service to patients attending the ED, using independent prescribing skills as required.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

This position is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration Skilled Worker route where applicants meet the required salary threshold. The role will support the delivery of high quality patient care in the ED and will participate in service audits, management and development activities.

Professional Registration

• Registered member of the GPhC.
• Member of UKCPA or other relevant specialist interest group.
• RPS faculty membership or working towards.

Experience

• Further post graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy at PG diploma level or sufficient experience gained in practice to equate to this level of training.
• Independent prescriber.
• PG leadership or management qualification.

Skills

• Experience of planning and reporting service audits.
• Significant experience in clinical hospital pharmacy across a broad range of specialties.
• Experience working in an MDT.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience as a specialist pharmacist within the field of emergency medicine.
• Experience providing a clinical pharmacy service to acute medicine.
