Lead Software Developer - 12 month FTC

  • Location: East Sussex - hybrid working available
  • Job Type: Full-time - 12-month FTC
  • Salary: up to £63k

A new Exciting opportunity has become available for a Lead Software Developer to provide technical leadership and line management within an exciting software development team for a public sector body. This hands-on role is crucial for leading development initiatives and mentoring junior developers, ensuring the delivery of strategically important projects.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide technical leadership to a team, guiding them in the development of software applications.
  • Offer line management to team members ranging from interns to developers.
  • Collaborate with other leaders to refine and enhance team workflows and practices.
  • Utilize a broad range of technologies and systems to design, code, and test applications, primarily using .NET/C#.
  • Identify suitable technologies and approaches for project requirements.
  • Contribute actively to the internal developer community, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical leadership to your team, fostering an environment of continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading, coaching, and mentoring developers within a team.
  • Expertise in .NET/C# application design, coding, and testing.
  • Significant experience with cloud technologies, preferably Azure (Functions, Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus).
  • Practitioner level understanding of Agile methodologies, able to implement Agile values and principles effectively.
  • Experience in building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with user researchers and represent user needs internally.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of debugging and optimizing production-level issues.
