Position Summary
As a "Laboratory Technician in Analytical Chemistry" in an R&D environment, you will provide technical support to develop, validate & implement tailor-made analytical methods for new technologies. You will have the opportunity to use and maintain advanced technical equipment for the determination of chemical contaminants in foodstuffs, ensuring quality and safety for all Nestlé products categories
You will shape experimental work in the laboratory, run the experiments and interpret the data for assisting scientists at obtaining meaningful results and methods that are fit for the purpose. You will build strong relationships with routine laboratories worldwide to provide effective technical assistance upon need for all Nestlé products categories.
A Day in the Life of a Laboratory Technician in Analytical Chemistry
Embrace innovation as a catalyst for change: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, validate & implement tailor-made analytical methods for new technologies. Use cutting-edge equipment to identify chemical contaminants in foodstuffs and ensure product quality and safety. Ensure that innovative methodologies are integrated into our research efforts.
Make a meaningful impact on our world: Prepare experiments in the laboratory, including writing of protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that not only fulfill scientific objectives but also contribute to sustainable practices, ultimately making a positive impact on global health and well-being.
Foster a culture of creativity and growth: Engage with diverse experts and thought leaders to inspire fresh thinking and drive entrepreneurial initiatives by running experiments/sample preparations under safe conditions in the laboratory and ensuring material and consumables purchasing while storing samples under appropriate conditions (GLP).
Stay at the forefront of science: Monitor relevant external technologies in both academia and industry, ensure suitability and maintenance of analytical platforms (usually mass spectrometry systems) in the laboratory, run data acquisition, process the raw data, and structure the results prior to interpretation.
What Will Make You Successful
Higher Diploma or above in Analytical Chemistry or Organic Chemistry
Extensive experience in laboratory work on analytical chemistry, previous experience with mass spectrometry and/or chemical contaminants analysis is a plus
Experience in method development from sample preparation to data acquisition and method validation according to guidelines
Experience in writing Standard Operating Procedures, and applying Good Laboratory Practices
Ability to work on hyphenated techniques (mass spectrometry) and simple tests (rapid methods)
Good analytical and organizational skills
Good computer skills, and experience in Laboratory Information Management System
Good communication skills in English (written and oral), French language skills is a strong plus
