This is a rare opportunity to join a cutting-edge referral centre renowned for its pioneering clinical care and state-of-the-art facilities.

GVC are looking for three Veterinary General Practitioners to be integral members of a multidisciplinary team, bridging the gap between primary care and specialist referral medicine and surgery.

About the Role

As a Veterinary General Practitioner within our referral centre, you will:

Manage and admit referred cases, delivering expert clinical assessments and treatment

Coordinate and oversee inpatient care, ensuring seamless communication with referral specialists across orthopaedics, neurology, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine

Perform advanced diagnostics including radiography, ultrasound, laboratory testing, and clinical examination

Provide surgical assistance for complex cases, including anaesthesia monitoring and post-operative care

Lead emergency and critical care response within the hospital setting

Uphold our commitment to the highest standards of patient care, maintaining the hospital's outstanding reputation

Your Responsibilities

Conduct thorough clinical examinations and take detailed case histories for referred patients

Perform diagnostic procedures using advanced imaging and laboratory equipment

Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with referral clinicians

Supervise and manage inpatient cases to ensure continuity and quality of care

Assist in surgical procedures and manage perioperative care

Participate actively in a 1:3 weekend rota, with compensatory time off

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records

Communicate effectively with clients and referring veterinarians

Engage fully in continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities

Who We Are Looking For

MRCVS registered with at least one year post-graduate experience in small animal practice

Proven skills in emergency and critical care, internal medicine, anaesthesia, and pain management

Confident and competent in surgical assistance and working within a referral-level hospital environment

Internship-trained candidates (surgical or rotating) are highly desirable but not essential

Excellent communicator and collaborator, comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team

Right to work in the UK or eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship
