Job Description
Overview Responsibilities
  • Managing all activities related to laboratory testing
  • Evaluate resources, processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement both technical and financially and identify growth opportunities
  • Monitor and manage laboratory KPI
  • Performing laboratory tests as required
  • Validation of test results
  • Interpreting test data and preparing lab testing reports and summaries
  • Calibrating and maintaining lab equipment
  • Managing and training laboratory technicians
  • Keeping the laboratory organized and in compliance with internal and external LAB CRED accreditation
  • Keeping up to date with advances in food testing
  • Line management for laboratory team - completion of appraisals and further developing a department training matrix
  • Monthly reporting of financial performance, staffing and forward planning
  • Responsible for cost control
  • Support site with root cause investigations and corrective cations implementation
  • Ensure that all laboratory operations are performed in compliance with relevant H&S regulations, policies and procedures
Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a similar role and therefore will be aware of the expectation to be professionally mature and be able to demonstrate the ability to influence and motivate others within the business.

The jobholder leads a dedicated team of 14, rotating over a 6-2, 2-10 and 10-6 operation and weekend operations. They will support the course of action needed to be taken in the event of non-conforming results of microbiological or Chemical analysis, taking into account all food safety, hygiene and customer requirement. He/she will also support on the course of action following customer audits and complaints thus meeting the needs of the customer and Andros UK.

They will have a real understanding of the personal attributes that are required to succeed in this position to include, tenacity, working to challenging deadlines and in a changing environment with the ability to problem solve and bring thought leadership and creative solutions using limited resources

Background/Experience
  • Management or supervision experience in a similar role is necessary
  • Experience in analytical and microbiological laboratory experience.
  • Experience of Laboratory Management Systems accreditation
