About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, proactive and committed Janitor to join our school team. You will play a vital role in ensuring that the school premises are safe, clean and well-maintained, providing a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities Security & Site Safety

• Unlock and secure the school premises at designated times
• Monitor and maintain heating, lighting and alarm systems
• Ensure the site is safe, tidy and ready for daily use
• Conduct routine health and safety checks, including outdoor areas
• Ensure clear and safe pedestrian access to the school particularly in adverse weather conditions e.g. snow clearing, gritting.

Maintenance & Cleaning

• Carry out cleaning of areas such as grounds, drains, boiler rooms and storage spaces
• Remove waste and dispose of it appropriately
• Ensure that the school and ground are litter free.
• Replenish consumables (e.g. soap, toilet rolls, towels)
• Deal with spillages, blockages and minor maintenance issues

Site Support

• Assist contractors and visitors onsite
• Report faults in gas, water and electrical systems
• Carry out general portage and moving of equipment
• Maintain basic records and respond to emergencies

Supporting the School Community

• Promote safeguarding and welfare of children at all times
• Follow school policies on health & safety, confidentiality and equality
• Work collaboratively with staff and contribute to the school ethos

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience in a similar role or practical maintenance/cleaning work
• Has good numeracy and literacy skills
• Can use relevant tools and equipment safely
• Works well both independently and as part of a team
• Has a friendly, professional and "can-do" attitude
• Is reliable, adaptable and committed to high standards
