At the Federal Office for Foreign Affairs (BfAA), we work as a competence and service center within the portfolio of the Federal Foreign Office (AA).

For our rapidly growing team in Brandenburg an der Havel, we are looking for a permanent part-time position (19.5 hours per week) to start as soon as possible:

An Information Technology and Digitization Officer (m/f/d) for the area of digitization and administrative modernization in the comparable senior civil service

Pay grade 11 TVöD federal; reference number: Z04-2025

If your application is successful, you will work in a new, internationally oriented higher federal authority that supports German foreign policy with its expertise from Germany.

Your tasks

You will provide advice and support in the planning, management and implementation of digitization and administrative modernization projects as part of requirements management and act as a point of contact between specialist departments and the central IT service provider.

  • In direct exchange with the IT service provider, you are the liaison and check technical requirements and alternative implementation options in digitization projects.
  • You will be responsible for project management in cross-sectional IT projects.
  • You will be responsible for the specialist administration of the new in-house service portal and other cross-sectional applications.
  • You will provide advice and support in the area of IT security

Your qualifications (minimum requirements)
  • Completed IT (technical) university degree (Bachelor or comparable) in the field of computer science, business informatics, administrative informatics or comparable
    or
  • Employees in the public sector who are recognized as so-called other employees in information technology with equivalent skills and experience to university graduates
    or
  • Completed IT vocational training, e.g. as an IT specialist or comparable, as well as at least two years of professional experience in information technology or in the field of digitalization
    (in accordance with Section 12 (2) TV EntgO Bund, you will be placed in pay group 10 until you are recognized as an Other employee in information technology with equivalent skills and experience to university graduates)

and

  • German nationality or that of a member state of the EU or EFTA
  • Good knowledge of the German language

We are also pleased about
  • Knowledge of database systems and SQL
  • Knowledge of at least 1 programming language (e.g. Python)
  • Good knowledge in the areas of virtualization technologies, network infrastructures, backup & recovery, server & client systems
  • Experience in the specialist administration of other software systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Knowledge of process management and process modeling as well as IT project management
  • Proof of IT security expertise - certificate, IT security officer in public administration or CISA, CISM, CompTIA Security or comparable

Applicants are recruited in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD Bund). Within the framework of the provisions of collective bargaining law, it is possible for federal employees to be seconded to the BfAA.
