The OpportunityWe have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HSSEQ professional to join Speedy as an HSSEQ Manager, supporting operations across the UK. This is a national, field based role offering variety, autonomy, and the chance to play a key role in driving a positive Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) culture across a large, operationally diverse business.
About the RoleReporting to the Senior HSSEQ Manager, you will support the effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Speedy's HSSEQ systems.
Acting as a trusted advisor to operational teams, you will provide day to day guidance, ensure compliance with legal and industry standards, and help embed best practice across depots, worksites, and facilities nationwide.
Key ResponsibilitiesHSSEQ Management Systems
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS)
- Ensure procedures, guidance documents, and forms are current and accessible
- Assist with internal and external audits, including evidence gathering and tracking actions
- Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
Operational HSSEQ Support
- Provide practical HSSEQ advice across depots, sites, and offices
- Support risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
- Conduct site inspections and produce clear, actionable reports
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor HSSEQ KPIs and contribute to reporting and dashboards
- Track audit actions, compliance tasks, and improvement initiatives
- Prepare reports for senior HSSEQ and operational leadership
Training & Competence
- Coordinate HSSEQ training, inductions, and toolbox talks
- Maintain training records and certification compliance
- Deliver HSSEQ briefings and awareness sessions
Culture & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a strong HSSEQ culture through engagement and coaching
- Support business-wide HSSEQ campaigns and initiatives
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve operational performance
Regulatory & Client Compliance
- Support compliance with legislation and client requirements
- Assist with tenders, PQQs, and client audits
- Stay up to date with industry standards and best practice
Essential
- Experience in an HSSEQ role within a relevant industry
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) plus NVQ Level 5 (or above) in Occupational Health & Safety
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Ability to conduct inspections, investigations, and deliver HSSEQ training
Desirable
- Lead or Internal Auditor qualification
- Environmental management training (certificate level)
- Incident investigation training
- Experience supporting multiple sites or regions
