The Portsmouth Academy is seeking a highly organised and proactive HR Administration Assistant to join our Office administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, enjoys supporting others and is committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and service.
You will play a key role in supporting staff across the employee lifecycle, ensuring our HR processes run smoothly and safeguarding and compliance responsibilities are met.
Applications are welcomed from candidates seeking between 30-35 hours per week and contracted hours can be agreed within this range.

- Recruitment administration, coordinating interviews, liaising with candidates and supporting safer recruitment checks.
- Onboarding and pre-employment checks, ensuring all documentation is complete before start dates.
- Maintaining accurate HR records and personnel files
- Absence administration including recording absence, monitoring triggers and supporting the absence management process.
- Payroll administration compile and submit payroll-related information accurately and within published monthly deadlines.
- Offboarding administration ensuring leaver processes are completed accurately and promptly.
- General administrative and reception support as part of the wider school office team.
- Previous experience of working in a school or other education environment is desirable
- Ability to cope with conflicting demands, deadlines and priorities
- You will be able to work to tight deadlines in a methodical manner observing confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent administration skills, with a high level of efficiency and accuracy
- English and Maths to GCSE level 5+ /A -C
- Strong IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft 365
