Job Description

The Royal Archaeological Institute is seeking applications for the roles of Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer.

The Hon Secretary is responsible for overseeing the running of the Institute, organising the lecture programme, and running the Research Committee.

The Hon Treasurer maintains an overview of the Institute's financial affairs, including monitoring the performance of investments and monitoring risks, while maintaining an overview of the Institute's financial affairs, business plans, and budgets.

Both roles work closely with the Institute's full-time Manager. These are voluntary roles - expenses are available for business travel and accommodation where necessary.

Applications in the form of a letter setting out the relevant experience and skills that the applicants would bring to these roles should be submitted to the Manager at by 31 st August.

The Royal Archaeological Institute was founded in 1844, and our Patron is His Majesty the King. The Institute's interests span all aspects of the archaeological, architectural and landscape history of the British Isles, and we run monthly lectures (October-May), a programme of Meetings in different parts of the country, and we support national conferences. We publish the Archaeological Journal, award annual grants and give annual prizes in support of archaeological research.
