Job Description

Our client is a global asset manager that is looking to appoint a Head of Compliance for its UK business.

The firm operates within a well-established EMEA structure, with central oversight from Luxembourg and additional resource across multiple jurisdictions. The UK business is supported by an experienced local team, with dedicated coverage across monitoring, financial crime and regulatory change.

This role carries SMF16 and SMF17 responsibilities and reports to the EMEA Head of Compliance. While there is full accountability for the UK framework, the role sits within a broader, well-supported platform rather than operating in isolation.

Responsibilities

The position combines leadership with hands on involvement. You will oversee an established team, while remaining closely involved in regulatory advisory, governance and key business initiatives. There is regular interaction with the board and executive committee, and direct engagement with the FCA where required.

A key part of the role is judgement. The business is looking for someone who can interpret UK regulatory requirements and apply them in a way that works in practice, balancing robustness with a pragmatic, commercial approach.

The structure of the team means this is not a rebuild role. The core framework is in place and functioning well, but there is scope to refine how the function supports the business and to take a more visible role in senior decision making.

The firm operates a four day per week office model, with some interaction across the wider EMEA team, including occasional travel to Luxembourg.

Qualifications

They are looking for someone with strong UK asset management regulatory experience and the credibility to operate at a senior level. This is likely to appeal to an experienced deputy or senior compliance professional looking to step into a first SMF16/17 role within a well established and supportive environment.
