Head Chef

Rookery School is seeking to appoint a Head Chef to start In September 2026. This role offers a great opportunity to lead our small, busy, well organised team in continuing to provide our quality catering provision for 500 students and in a Primary School environment. It is essential that the school's food is of the highest of standards to ensure that students enjoy meals that are planned and prepared with great care and skill, presented with imagination and flair and, of course, taste delicious.

In order to achieve operational efficiency and services levels required, the expected pattern or work is early starts and early afternoon finishes but with flexibility dependant on demands.

You will be able to demonstrate:

• Bags of energy, drive and commitment,
• Innovation, able to continue with and build upon our excellent meal experience
• The ability to lead by example and line manage a team
• Initiative in taking the lead in food preparation, cooking and preparation of dishes

In addition to evidence of:

• Being able to work within set budget and lead on purchasing and stock control.
• Food hygiene, health and safety and allergen management.
