Job Description

The GP Associate Director will assist and work with the Head of GP School and Primary Care Dean to ensure the delivery of high-quality GP specialty training and support the development of the Primary Care workforce in London.

A GP Associate Director at 3 sessions per week post has become available in South London (GSTT + Kings) with a view to starting as soon as possible (negotiable). This position is available until 31/10/2026.

The post will be for 3 sessions a week (12 hours per week).

Main duties of the job

The Associate Director will have local responsibility for the coordination, provision, and management of postgraduate general practice activities across London, as well as providing input into the development of the primary care workforce through promoting multi-professional education. Responsibilities will include, amongst others:

  • Supporting and working with the Head of School for GP Education in the preparation, implementation, and management of postgraduate general practice foundation and specialty training schemes within their area.
  • Developing links and liaising with the Royal College of General Practitioners and the General Medical Council on the approval of posts selected for general practice training.
  • Liaising with emerging training hubs in their areas.
  • Collaborating with internal and external senior stakeholders on issues related to specialty training for general practice.

  • Awareness and understanding of the priorities of the role
  • Teaching skills
Experience and Knowledge
  • Experience in primary care as a clinician
  • Experience in primary care education, such as GP trainer approval
Qualifications & Training
  • MRCGP or equivalent
  • A higher qualification related to general practice or primary care education

The annual salary is £127,369, paid at GP03 (standard AD rate).
