Global IP - Legal Associate Director

Leading global professional services consultancy seeks a Legal Associate Director - IP to join their highly skilled global in-house legal team.

Role Overview

This is a newly created position within a supportive and dynamic team, serving as the IP legal lead on trademarks, patents, and all IP-related matters. The role involves engaging at Partner level across jurisdictions to influence strategy and approach for protecting and promoting the company's IP, alongside substantive legal advisory work and negotiations.

Responsibilities

1. Advising on a range of UK, EU, and international IP matters, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets.
2. Conducting due diligence for IP transactions and M&A activities.
3. Managing cybersecurity issues and coordinating the trademark portfolio.
4. Refining the patent strategy across the business and member firms.
5. Analyzing infringement risks and horizon scanning for new developments.
6. Advising on compliance obligations and collaborating with external counsel and global colleagues.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have over 10 years' PQE with proven experience as an IP lawyer, managing IP portfolios across multiple jurisdictions, ideally from a top-tier City law firm or in-house. Experience with emerging technologies, including AI, is desirable.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with gravitas, business acumen, and process improvement skills. A calm, proactive, versatile, efficient, credible, persuasive attitude, with the ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment, is essential.
