Job Description
Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant - Sensory & Regulation Provision

Location: South Shields

Some children need movement before maths. Regulation before reading.

This primary specialist setting in South Shields supports pupils aged 5-9 with sensory processing difficulties and autism.

The environment is low-arousal, highly structured and carefully organised to reduce anxiety.

Daily Routine Morning Sensory Circuit

Many pupils begin the day with structured movement activities. You will supervise and support these sessions.

Classroom Support
  • 1:1 phonics intervention
  • Practical maths activities
  • Supporting fine motor development
  • Encouraging communication attempts
Lunch & Play

Structured, supervised social interaction.

End of Day

Staff remain until 4:00pm for notes and planning.

Behaviour

Low-level dysregulation is expected and managed calmly. Clear systems are in place.

Experience & Pay

SEN or childcare experience desirable.

Trainee scale available.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
