Location: Toton, NG9 - will be moving to NG15 towards the end of 2026.
Hours: 1 x position for p ermanent hours: Three nights a week to be worked Monday-Wednesday from 9pm-9am. Also seeking 1-2 Bank Workers to cover absences of the current team which may consist of day or night shifts. Typical day shifts are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with one day to start and finish later to allow the family an evening out. Working on Bank holidays will not usually be required to enable the family to have time together. Please state which position you are interested in on your application.
Pay:
- £17.50 per hour, Weekdays 9am-11pm. £18.50 per hour weekends, bank holidays and waking nights.
- Sleeping nights: Monday-Friday £NLW per hour. Weekends: £NLW per hour plus £1 (11.00pm to 9.00am)

Job Summary
Nicola, born in 1991, lives at home with her parents and 1 small pet dog, the family all have a good sense of humour. She is a very sociable lady, and herinterests include supporting her local football team, Nottingham Forest. She is also keen on; shopping for books, enjoying meals out, social events, listening to music on her headphones and playing console games.
Nicolasustained abirth injury in 1991 which resulted in spastic quadriparesis with marked increase in tone and a moderate learning disability. She has a right sided scoliosis and a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes which is insulin controlled, she wears a monitor which sounds an alert if the glucose levels are out of the safety parameters. Nicolais a full-time wheelchair user and is dependent on others to meet her care needs. She requires support with personal care, moving and handling, assistance with eating and drinking, meal preparation, administration of medication, management of low-level behavioural issues and regulation of emotions. She communicates verbally (with a limited vocabulary), and has the cognitive ability to make simple choices on a daily basis.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Supporting with all care requirements to include personal care
- Providing companionship
- Guidance from her therapists to support with exercise programmes
- Maximising Nicola's independence in all activities of daily living
- Client related domestic tasks
- 2:1 care for all transfers (this may change in the future)
- Sourcing and implementing meaningful activities
- Completion of care notes

- A Handling Management Plan designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries may require you to bend, kneel, squat or lunge to ensure good posture during handling tasks.

- Happy to learn new skills in accordance with the Nicola's programme - hoisting, feeding, personal care routine etc. Training will be given.

- Comfortable to be around a dog (our client has one good natured small-medium sized dog).
- Full clean driving licence and able to drive the clients adapted vehicle.
Desirable - Experience of working with children/adults with special needs (This is preferred but enthusiasm, patience and willingness to learn is desirable).
- Experience of carrying out therapy programmes.
- Able to work flexibly for one day each week.
- Previous experience of hoisting and use of specialist equipment with disabled people although training will be given.
- NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
- Knowledge and experience of brain injury would be advantageous.

Working as a Carer or Support Worker for an ILS client means that you will have a dedicated Case Manager to oversee your client's care needs.
