Electronics Wiring Technician - 6-month Contract

Location: Stafford
Rate: £25-29/hour

Duration: 6 months (potential of rolling extension)

About the Role
We are seeking an Electronics Wiring Technician to support our Engine Electronic Systems Team. This is a practical, workshop-based role focused on building and maintaining bespoke electrical load boxes and test equipment-supporting the development and validation of advanced control systems for engines and powertrains.

This is not a design engineering role, but a highly skilled hands-on position ideal for candidates with strong experience in wiring, harness assembly, and electrical test systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and pinouts
  • Assembling and mechanically constructing test boxes to engineering specifications (including drilling, tapping, and using hand tools)
  • Wiring and assembling test harnesses (cutting, crimping, soldering, connector assembly)
  • Supporting multiple priority projects and ensuring timely delivery
  • Collaborating with engineers and internal teams to understand test needs
  • Using basic PC tools (Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook)

Desirable Additional Skills:

  • Creating technical sketches or basic design layouts
  • Selecting and sourcing suitable components for electrical builds
  • Planning and estimating time for build tasks
  • Diagnosing and resolving wiring issues using tools like multimeters or oscilloscopes
  • Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Visio

What We're Looking For:

- Proven hands-on experience in electronic/electrical equipment assembly.

- Background in panel wiring and harness building.

- A technical qualification such as a Level 3 apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent experience.

- Experience in control systems, automotive, electrical, or mechanical engineering environments.

- A proactive approach to safety and process improvement.

This role provides unique exposure to evolving electronics technologies and offers excellent professional development in a dynamic and supportive environment.

How to Apply
Please ensure your CV clearly demonstrates your qualifications and experience as outlined above.
