The Opportunity

The primary function of the Director, Marketing Category Lead North America - Dental, Ophthalmics, and Other Supplements position is to lead all marketing efforts and planning, as well as P&L responsibility for their assigned category. The role also includes market development for pipeline products.

This is a remote role and can be located anywhere within the continental United States.

So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied scope, and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including:

  • Leading the Business
  • Developing and delivering the 1 and 3-year strategy and financial operating plan for the assigned category in partnership with medical affairs counterpart
  • Defining end-to-end category and brand strategies (including competitive positioning, VHT, retail, distribution, corporate accounts, pet owner, etc.) in partnership with medical affairs
  • Leading ongoing financial planning and product forecasting for the respective category
  • Maximizing brand performance: P&L management, brand forecasting, pricing & GTN by TA/Brand
  • Preparing and presenting performance reviews and business updates to Senior Management on a quarterly basis
  • Developing a deep understanding of market trends, competitive landscape, and key drivers of brand performance
  • Determining resource allocation across all customer and promotional channels
  • Ensuring alignment across marketing, sales, and medical affairs (creating teams and forums for engagement, strategy discussions, and competitive intel sharing)

Shared responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with Corporate, Retail, and Distribution on forecast by channel, which feeds into the overall brand forecast
  • Building and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of end-to-end strategy
  • Collaborating with GTME strategy
  • Engaging with DPS to optimize forecasting and supply plans
  • Partnering with GTME on commercial lifecycle planning efforts
  • Providing input and support on Business Development evaluations

Leading People

  • Assessing and coaching individual and team performance to exceed business goals
  • Coaching and directing Marketing Managers in developing comprehensive marketing objectives, strategies, and plans, and in identifying key stakeholders throughout the process
  • Actively coaching direct reports to optimize performance and develop capabilities for advancement and future opportunities
  • Fostering an environment where coaching and feedback are open, ongoing, and consistent
  • Leveraging talent and resources across the marketing team and business

  • BS/BA and relevant experience required. MBA preferred
  • At least 10 years of related experience with a proven record in branding, strategy development, and communications management
  • Experience leading end-to-end Direct-to-Consumer marketing strategy
  • Experience managing a diverse product portfolio spanning OTC and Rx brands
  • Strong financial analysis skills and proven ability to manage budgets and expenses
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to develop and execute brand strategies, forecasting, programs, and tactics to surpass market share and revenue targets
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of business strategy and development
  • Ability to build and manage a Profit & Loss (P&L) statement
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills
  • Ability to embrace change and view challenges as business opportunities
  • Proven success working in a global, complex organization across marketing and sales
  • Self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities
