Design Manager - Architectural & Facades - High Containment Laboratories

Laing O'Rourke is delivering the National Biosecurity Centre, a £900m state-of-the-art facility that will transform the UK's resilience in life sciences and disease prevention. We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead on Architectural & Facades packages - a role central to the technical success of this flagship programme.

As Design Manager, you will:

• Lead the coordination and assurance of architectural and façade design packages, ensuring compliance, safety, and technical excellence.

• Oversee design information from early stages through to construction and handover, ensuring buildability, performance, and maintainability.

• Collaborate with world-class architects, consultants, and supply chain partners on one of the UK's most complex laboratory projects.

• Drive design quality and innovation while managing risk, statutory compliance, and change control.

• Proven experience as a Design Manager in complex architectural and façade delivery.

• Laboratories project experience - essential.

• Animal health / high-containment laboratories experience - highly advantageous.

• A degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related construction discipline (Chartered status desirable).

• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, problem-solve and deliver under pressure.
