Laing O'Rourke is delivering the National Biosecurity Centre, a £900m state-of-the-art facility that will transform the UK's resilience in life sciences and disease prevention. We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead on Architectural & Facades packages - a role central to the technical success of this flagship programme.
About the RoleAs Design Manager, you will:
Lead the coordination and assurance of architectural and façade design packages, ensuring compliance, safety, and technical excellence.
Oversee design information from early stages through to construction and handover, ensuring buildability, performance, and maintainability.
Collaborate with world-class architects, consultants, and supply chain partners on one of the UK's most complex laboratory projects.
Drive design quality and innovation while managing risk, statutory compliance, and change control.
Proven experience as a Design Manager in complex architectural and façade delivery.
Laboratories project experience - essential.
Animal health / high-containment laboratories experience - highly advantageous.
A degree in Architecture, Engineering or a related construction discipline (Chartered status desirable).
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, problem-solve and deliver under pressure.
