Depot Manager (Commercial Vehicles) - Reading

Hours: 42.5 hours per week

Reports to: General Manager

As Depot Manager, you will lead and manage the day to day aftersales operations of the depot, ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost effective running of all workshop activities. The role requires a strong focus on customer service, health and safety, people management, and maximizing profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the service, parts, and administrative teams to deliver excellent performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, address training needs and identify and implement a training plan for all depot staff.
  • Select and recruit staff in all departments.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage staffing levels, recruitment, and rota planning.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of HGV service, repair, and maintenance processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Strong communicator with excellent organisational skills.
  • Proactive, results driven, and commercially minded.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and problem solve under pressure.
  • Resilient under pressure and capable of problem solving in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong customer service focus with ability to build long term relationships.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and developing others.
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • IT literate with good working knowledge of MS Office and workshop management systems.
  • Commercial awareness with a track record of achieving financial targets.
