Aspex Gallery is looking for a full-time experienced and ambitious Curator to shape Aspex's contemporary visual arts programme. You'll lead the development and delivery of exhibitions, artist residencies and artist support initiatives, working collaboratively with artists, communities and partners to create ambitious, engaging and inclusive projects.
As Curator, you'll be responsible for developing and delivering Aspex's seasonal programme of exhibitions, projects and artist support activities. Working closely with the Director and wider team, you'll oversee every stage of the curatorial process - from researching artists and developing new ideas, to exhibition delivery, fundraising and evaluation.
The role also includes managing the gallery's Crafts & Retail programme, supporting audience development activities and helping to strengthen Aspex's relationships with artists, funders and cultural partners.
During the role you'll have the opportunity to:
- Curate exhibitions, commissions and creative projects
- Develop artist support and residency programmes
- Work closely with artists, communities and partner organisations
- Lead exhibition planning, installation and project delivery
- Secure funding and contribute to fundraising activity
- Collaborate on audience development events and public programmes
- Support the strategic development of Aspex's artistic vision
