Shifts will be worked around breakfast, lunch, and evening mealtimes across 7 days a week (full-time and part-time roles available).

About the service

Badgers Wood is a welcoming residential care home in Drayton, just a few miles from Norwich, supporting up to 37 older people with both permanent and respite care.

The home offers a comfortable, homely environment with a variety of spaces including a library, retro lounge, seaside-themed room, café, and a hair and nail salon-creating a relaxed and sociable setting for residents.

About the role

As a Cook, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring that all meals are prepared to a high standard and in line with residents' needs and preferences.

You will play a key role in creating a positive dining experience, helping to promote health, wellbeing, and enjoyment through food.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Planning and preparing nutritious, balanced meals
• Catering for individual dietary needs and preferences
• Ensuring high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
• Managing stock, ordering supplies, and minimising waste
• Supervising and supporting kitchen assistants
• Maintaining accurate records, including food safety documentation
• Creating a welcoming and enjoyable mealtime experience for residents

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is passionate about food and has a positive, caring approach.

You will need to have:

• Experience in a cooking or catering role (care setting experience is desirable but not essential)
• Knowledge of food hygiene standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene preferred)
• A caring and respectful attitude towards older people
• Good organisational and time management skills
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
