Paxton Personnel is proud to be working with a leading construction business to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager / Senior Contracts Manager to oversee the delivery of multiple projects across the region.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. You'll take ownership of programming, labour and subcontractor management, cost control, and project coordination - from pre construction through to completion and defect close out.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and oversee multiple construction projects from start to finish, ensuring delivery on programme and within budget.
- Lead project teams, including Contracts Managers, Project Managers, and Site Managers, promoting collaboration and high performance.
- Take responsibility for project programming (ideally using Powerproject or similar tools) and resource planning.
- Liaise with design teams, clients, and subcontractors to resolve technical and operational issues.
- Conduct regular site visits to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Monitor project costs, progress, and performance; prepare and present reports as required.
- Support the estimating and bid teams with project reviews, buildability assessments, and programme input.
- Manage and mentor staff, encouraging development and supporting succession planning.
Essential:
- Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager role within the construction sector.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Full UK driving licence.
- CSCS Manager's Card, SMSTS, and valid First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience preparing and managing RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements).
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- NVQ/SVQ Level 5 or higher in Construction Management (or willingness to work toward).
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial awareness.
- Track record of developing teams and driving continuous improvement.
