About the job

Contract Engineer - Fixed-term until July 2026

We are looking for an experienced Contract Engineer to oversee the successful delivery of our projects, ensuring they are profitable and sustainable, as well as maintaining strong relationships with our clients.

You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of contract execution - from reviewing terms and identifying risks, to ensuring compliance, performance monitoring, and client relationship management. You'll also support our tendering processes and contribute to achieving divisional targets.

This may include:

  • Monitoring and reporting on contract performance, KPIs, and compliance.
  • Assist Operational Managers to ensure efficient day-to-day operations and asset use.
  • Maintain accurate records of contract variations, instructions, and communications.
  • Review upcoming workloads to ensure proactive planning and resource allocation.
  • Represent Citycare in meetings with councils and other stakeholders
  • Promote a customer-focused culture aligned with Citycare's values.

Your passion for innovation and efficiency, along with your alignment with Citycare Water's values and commitment to upholding Te Mana O te Wai, will ensure your success in this role.

What you'll need
  • Proven experience in contract engineering, project management, or a similar role.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and relevant Trade Qualification in the Water Industry.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law and application in project environment.
  • Familiar with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Competence in financial reporting and performance analysis, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Dedication to Health & Safety.

All preferred candidates will be required to complete preemployment checks to the employer's satisfaction. These checks include but are not limited to, Ministry of Justice criminal conviction report, medical assessment, and drug and alcohol testing.
