Our client is a leading proprietary trading firm based in Amsterdam, renowned for its cutting-edge high-frequency and quantitative trading strategies across global markets. With a focus on liquid products, the firm combines advanced technology with deep market expertise to maintain a competitive edge. As the firm continues to scale, they are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Compliance Officer to join their dynamic team. As a Compliance Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the firm's trading operations remain fully compliant with applicable regulations, particularly MiFID II and MAR. You will act as a trusted advisor to the trading desk, monitor trading activities, and help strengthen the firm's compliance control framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide real-time and strategic compliance advisory support to trading and operational teams.
- Conduct surveillance of electronic communications and trading activity to detect potential market abuse or policy breaches.
- Identify, assess, and remediate gaps in the compliance control framework.
- Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation of relevant changes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to enhance policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Support regulatory reporting and audit processes.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators and external compliance partners.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a compliance role within a trading environment, preferably proprietary or algorithmic trading.
- Strong understanding of MiFID II, Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), and other relevant EU financial regulations.
- Familiarity with trading products such as equities, ETFs, futures, and options.
- Experience with surveillance systems and tools used for monitoring trading and communications.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex regulatory texts and apply them pragmatically.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.
