The Compliance Monitoring Officer (CMO, Associate) will contribute to the firm's compliance monitoring programme by delivering assigned monitoring tests on time. They provide clear guidance to the first line of defence, supporting the closure of any gaps in the current operating state through agreed actions and deadlines. This role requires orderly and complete record keeping in line with the Compliance Monitoring Specification to evidence oversight work and provide assurance of the firm's compliance with regulatory and legal obligations.
The CMO (Associate) supports their line manager, Head of Compliance, and broader function in alignment with the Compliance Monitoring Specification.
French or German language skills are required.
Key Accountabilities- Deliver a series of defined monitoring tests to ensure the firm's compliance with regulatory and legal obligations.
- Complete compliance tests on schedule, adhering to the compliance monitoring plan.
- Maintain excellent record keeping according to the Compliance Monitoring Specification, including proper use of test folders, version control, and naming conventions for inspection readiness.
- Engage with the business before and after testing to monitor and verify the completion of actions, demonstrating positive compliance.
- Develop, adapt, and design testing sheets under the guidance of their manager.
- Perform ongoing gap analysis of the CMP scope and application.
- Contribute to a live compliance risk assessment of the firm.
- Support and undertake compliance reporting, including notifications to regulatory bodies, internal management reports, and register maintenance.
- Good understanding of applicable regulatory and legal requirements relevant to the bank's activities.
- Experience in analyzing client files, procedures, processes, and record keeping to assess compliance.
- Experience in implementing regulatory changes within a firm.
- Understanding of outcomes-based regulatory compliance work.
- Knowledge of the 3LOD model and delivering effective oversight and assurance as part of the second line of defence.
- Effective engagement skills to collaborate with colleagues and achieve outcomes.
- Ability to interpret regulatory texts and understand their practical implications.
- Strong business writing skills to summarize and explain findings clearly and concisely.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis to develop effective actions.
- Awareness of the audience and purpose of reports.
- Excellent record keeping skills, including proper folder organization, naming conventions, dating, and version control.
- Effective time and work management skills.
- Principled conduct, exemplifying honesty and integrity.
- Ongoing CPD accreditation with a recognized industry body, meeting annual hours requirements.
We are flexible regarding the role being based in either London or Manchester.
