Service: Wellbeing

Stafford Borough Council is committed to keeping our communities safe. We are looking to recruit a Community Safety Officer (Anti Social Behaviour) to join our Wellbeing Service and play a key role in preventing, investigating and resolving anti social behaviour across the Borough.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that makes a real difference to the lives of residents and visitors through early intervention, partnership working and, where necessary, proportionate enforcement action.

The role

You will manage a varied caseload of anti social behaviour and community safety cases, taking responsibility for cases from initial report through to resolution and closure. You will deliver a victim focused service, balancing support, prevention and enforcement to achieve positive outcomes while ensuring legal compliance and good professional judgement.

Working closely with colleagues across the Council and with external partners including the Police, housing providers, legal services and voluntary and community sector organisations, you will help ensure Stafford's neighbourhoods remain safe places to live and visit.

Key responsibilities
  • Acting as a first point of contact for reports of anti social behaviour, including triage, risk assessment and prioritisation
  • Managing ASB and community safety cases autonomously in line with Council policy and statutory guidance
  • Interviewing complainants, alleged perpetrators and witnesses, carrying out investigations and developing clear, proportionate action plans
  • Using early intervention and support based approaches alongside formal enforcement where appropriate
  • Preparing case files, instructing legal representatives, attending court and presenting evidence when required
  • Accurately recording and updating all case activity on the ASB case management system
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns and unmet support needs, making referrals and working with partners to achieve joined up solutions
  • Providing professional advice and support to colleagues and partners on ASB matters
  • Analysing ASB data and contributing to monitoring, performance reporting and service improvement
  • Supporting wider community safety initiatives, including partnership working with CCTV and the use of noise monitoring equipment
About you

You will have relevant experience of dealing with anti social behaviour and/or community safety issues, and be confident handling complex and often sensitive situations involving both victims and perpetrators.

Please note that a Basic DBS check will be required in the event of an individual being offered the position.
