Job Description
Children's Residential Home Manager - 2 Bed EBD
Location: Derbyshire (DN22)
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum, plus annual bonus of up to £3,000 subject to performance criteria
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (40 hours per week) with flexibility to work additional hours as required to meet the needs of the service. Participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota is required (approximately 1 week in every 5 weeks).

- Previous successful Ofsted registration experience as a Registered Manager, with the ability to successfully complete the Fit Person Interview process
- A minimum of two years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a children's residential care setting
- Experience working with children and young people in residential care, with experience supporting those with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) being advantageous
- A strong understanding of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding requirements, relevant legislation, and best practice within children's residential care
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop staff teams
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes, delivering high standards of care, and making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Level 5 Diploma in Children, Young People and Families Management, or be working towards an equivalent transferable qualification
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills when working with young people, families, colleagues, senior managers, and external professionals
- Strong organisational, time management, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to effectively plan, prioritise, and manage workloads
- The ability to maintain professional boundaries and demonstrate professionalism at all times
- Resilience, flexibility, and a proactive, child-centred approach to care and leadership
- A full UK driving licence
- Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota and respond appropriately to emergency situations
- Provide effective day-to-day leadership and management of the children's home
- Ensure the home operates in full compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations, and company policies
- Lead, support, supervise, and develop the staff team to deliver outstanding care
- Promote positive outcomes and individualised care plans for young people
- Monitor and maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection practices
- Manage staffing levels, rotas, and workforce planning to meet the needs of the home
- Complete staff supervisions, appraisals, and performance management processes
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, families, local authorities, and external professionals
- Oversee care planning, risk assessments, placement planning, and statutory documentation
- Monitor and manage the home's budgets and resources effectively
- Ensure all records, reports, and documentation are accurate and completed within required timescales
- Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections, ensuring the home consistently meets regulatory standards
- Investigate incidents, complaints, and safeguarding concerns appropriately and in line with procedures
- Participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota and provide leadership during emergencies
- Drive continuous improvement and create a positive, nurturing environment where young people can thrive
