Chief I Vascular Physiologist (Full-time, 35 hours per week, Permanent) The Purpose of This Role:The Chief I Vascular Physiologist will have overall responsibility and management of the Vascular service. To participate at leadership level in providing a high quality and efficient vascular diagnostic service to consultants and their patients within a hospital multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining the highest standards in patient care at all times.
Qualifications:- BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS).
- Certificate in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology or equivalent confirmed by IICMS.
- Equivalent relevant scientific qualification (Level 8) confirmed by IICMS.
- The Chief I Vascular Physiologist should be familiar with the techniques and range of equipment used in current medical practice for the diagnosis, treatment and care of vascular patients including resuscitation equipment.
- Operate within the scope of practice of the role and in accordance with local guidelines.
- Ensure that professional standards are maintained in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation.
- Carry out daily lab duties including making appointments, dealing with queries, filling reports and record keeping, patient education, history taking and interpretation of request forms.
- Triage patient referrals, prioritising and reprioritising patient appointments according to urgency.
- Identify patients that require follow-up or review appointments and organise them.
- Provide supervision of and participate in the agreed diagnostic work carried out in the department.
- Interpret test results, compiling a professional report.
- Recognise and report any limitations to an assessment.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of all equipment in the vascular laboratory.
- Ensure that the resources of the vascular laboratory are utilised effectively and efficiently.
- Be responsible for assessing and monitoring the need for new equipment and participate in the process to select new equipment, including the tendering process for new or replacement equipment as required.
- Attend meetings or conferences as required or designated.
- Represent the vascular service as requested at multi disciplinary meetings.
- Have at least 5 years post qualification experience.
- Evidence of knowledge in all relevant core areas.
- Must have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
