Job Description
Gloucestershire's largest comprehensive school with over 200 staff and approximately 1,800 students is seeking a Catering Assistant to support the Catering Lead in the provision of the catering facility of the school. The centre was opened in 2019 and has been an integral aspect of upholding the robust behaviour policy ever since. The purpose of the centre is to provide short-term intervention to enable students to be integrated to mainstream lessons and ultimately ensure minimal disruption to maximise teaching and learning. You will be working 15 hours per week, 39 weeks of the year. Monday - Friday, 11.30 - 14.30 OR 12.00 - 15.00. As the Catering Assistant you will:
- Work with the catering team to prepare and cook the daily menu.
- Ensure sufficient food is available at all time during all services throughout the school day.
- Prepare of hot / cold food and assist with the service of the food in all service areas throughout the school.
- Minimise wastage and ensuring this does not have a negative impact on the effective operation and profitability of the catering operation.
- Assist with serving staff and students, using the school's till operation system. Ensure health and safety regulations are met.
- Ensure compliance with all fire, licensing, food safety and employment regulations.
- Maintain hygienic standards as laid down by Management and the Food Safety Act 1990, Food Safety (General Food Staff Regulations 1995) and the Food Safety Temperature Control Regulations 1995.
- Commitment to complete relevant training.
- Experience of working within a catering environment, ideally within a mass catering setting (or willingness to be trained in these areas.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Empathy and understanding towards the needs and perspectives of others.
- The ability to conduct yourself with professionalism and integrity in all interactions and communications, keeping calm when working.
