Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Calibration & Laboratory Technician to join our growing Section 82 team in Plymouth. Working within our dedicated laboratory, you will play an important role in supporting one of the UK's largest Continuous Water Quality Monitoring (CWQM) programmes.

In this role, you will help ensure environmental monitoring equipment is prepared, calibrated, maintained and recorded to the highest quality standards. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a structured technical environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.

Responsibilities
  • Calibrating multi-parameter water quality sensors using certified reference standards
  • Preparing sensors for deployment to customer sites
  • Cleaning, inspecting and maintaining laboratory equipment
  • Preparing calibration solutions and maintaining calibration fluid registers
  • Managing stock levels of laboratory consumables and calibration fluids
  • Completing laboratory quality documentation in line with company procedures
  • Ensuring calibration equipment remains within certification requirements
  • Supporting incoming and outgoing equipment inspections
  • Packaging and preparing equipment for field engineers
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of laboratory procedures and quality systems
  • Following all health, safety, environmental and quality guidelines
  • Collaborating with engineers and project teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment
  • Supporting activities related to future ISO 17025 laboratory accreditation
Qualifications
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Experience calibrating instrumentation or electronic equipment
  • Experience within the water, environmental or utilities sector
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 or ISO 17025)
  • Understanding of environmental monitoring equipment
  • Experience using digital quality or asset management systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Ability to follow written procedures accurately
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
