Buying Manager - Wholesale Distribution Midlands £70,000 Package

Looking for a step up into a role where you're not just buying but leading, shaping strategy, and driving performance? This is a fast paced wholesale business supplying a diverse customer base across retail, trade, and independent outlets. They're looking for a Buying Manager to take ownership of multiple FMCG categories, lead a small team, and drive commercial performance across the portfolio. You'll have real influence over range, margin, and supplier strategy-with the autonomy to make decisions and the backing to deliver change.

The Role
  • Lead and develop FMCG categories within a wholesale environment
  • Manage, coach, and develop a small buying team
  • Own supplier strategy, relationships, and performance across key accounts
  • Negotiate pricing, promotions, rebates, and long term commercial agreements
  • Use data and insight to drive range optimisation, margin improvement, and growth
  • Align closely with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain to deliver commercial plans
  • Drive new product introduction and category development
  • Oversee stock performance, availability, and demand planning inputs
What They're Looking For
  • Proven experience in a Buying Manager / Senior Buyer / Category Manager role within FMCG, wholesale, or retail
  • Leadership experience - able to develop and get the best out of a team
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of improving margin and performance
  • Confident negotiator with experience managing key supplier relationships
  • Analytical mindset - able to turn data into actionable decisions
  • Comfortable operating in a fast paced, evolving environment
