Job Description

Building Surveyor

  • Location: Manchester
  • Hourly rate: £50 per hour Umbrella
  • Length of role: Initial 4 months

We are seeking a Building Surveyor to join our Housing Services team on a temporary basis. The role focuses on HHSRS assessments, damp and mould investigations, disrepair works, and preparation for Awaab's Law requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the improvement of residents' homes and the delivery of high-quality housing services.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Undertake property inspections, surveys, and technical assessments to diagnose building defects.
  • Identify and manage HHSRS hazards, damp, mould, and condensation issues.
  • Specify, manage, and monitor remedial works through to completion, ensuring compliance with housing quality standards.
  • Support the council's response to Awaab's Law and contribute to legal and technical reports as required.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
  • Respond to resident concerns and complaints, maintaining excellent customer service throughout the process.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A construction-related qualification or significant relevant surveying experience.
  • Proven experience in social housing, repairs and maintenance, property compliance, or asset management.
  • Strong knowledge of HHSRS, building pathology, damp and mould diagnosis, and housing legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage repairs, disrepair cases, planned works, or major repairs.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders.
  • A commitment to delivering positive outcomes for residents.
