Building Surveyor

- Length of role: Initial 4 months
We are seeking a Building Surveyor to join our Housing Services team on a temporary basis. The role focuses on HHSRS assessments, damp and mould investigations, disrepair works, and preparation for Awaab's Law requirements. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the improvement of residents' homes and the delivery of high-quality housing services.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Undertake property inspections, surveys, and technical assessments to diagnose building defects.
- Identify and manage HHSRS hazards, damp, mould, and condensation issues.
- Specify, manage, and monitor remedial works through to completion, ensuring compliance with housing quality standards.
- Support the council's response to Awaab's Law and contribute to legal and technical reports as required.
- Oversee contractor performance, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the required quality standards.
- Respond to resident concerns and complaints, maintaining excellent customer service throughout the process.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- A construction-related qualification or significant relevant surveying experience.
- Proven experience in social housing, repairs and maintenance, property compliance, or asset management.
- Strong knowledge of HHSRS, building pathology, damp and mould diagnosis, and housing legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage repairs, disrepair cases, planned works, or major repairs.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders.
- A commitment to delivering positive outcomes for residents.
