The school is seeking a committed BSL Level 2 (or above) Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September.
About the RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will become an integral part of a highly supportive specialist classroom team, working with deaf pupils aged 4-11 who communicate primarily through British Sign Language.
Your role will involve:
- Supporting pupils both academically and socially throughout the school day
- Using BSL confidently to support communication and learning access
- Signing instructions, explanations, and classroom discussions clearly and effectively
- Helping pupils build confidence, independence, and positive relationships
- Working closely with teachers, speech and language professionals, and hearing specialists
- Creating a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:- Hold a minimum BSL Level 2 qualification
- Have experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEN setting
- Be confident communicating through BSL in a busy classroom environment
- Demonstrate patience, warmth, consistency, and strong interpersonal skills
- Be passionate about supporting deaf children and inclusive education
- Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
- A highly structured and supportive specialist setting
- Experienced leadership with a strong understanding of deaf education
- Excellent staff wellbeing and long-term support
- Ongoing CPD opportunities, including BSL refreshers and SEN training
- A welcoming and collaborative team culture
