The school is seeking a committed BSL Level 2 (or above) Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team from September.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will become an integral part of a highly supportive specialist classroom team, working with deaf pupils aged 4-11 who communicate primarily through British Sign Language.

Your role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils both academically and socially throughout the school day
  • Using BSL confidently to support communication and learning access
  • Signing instructions, explanations, and classroom discussions clearly and effectively
  • Helping pupils build confidence, independence, and positive relationships
  • Working closely with teachers, speech and language professionals, and hearing specialists
  • Creating a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Hold a minimum BSL Level 2 qualification
  • Have experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEN setting
  • Be confident communicating through BSL in a busy classroom environment
  • Demonstrate patience, warmth, consistency, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Be passionate about supporting deaf children and inclusive education
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
