An exciting opportunity to contribute as a senior HR advisor within a skilled HR team. The post-holder will manage a varied caseload, support organisational change and demonstrate strong time management and prioritisation skills. Ideally, the role is full CIPD qualified and focuses on delivering a professional, customer-focused HR service aligned with the Trust's vision and values. The post holder will provide a comprehensive range of employment services as the nominated first point of contact for service areas within the Trust and provide advisory support in the absence of colleagues. The position is advertised as full-time, with consideration for part-time applications (30 hours per week).
Responsibilities- Provide professional advice to managers on complex people matters in line with the organisation's policies and procedures, employment legislation and best practice, ensuring a high-quality, efficient and cost-effective service.
- Advise and support managers on investigations, including grievances, disciplinary matters, and bullying and harassment cases.
- Advise and support managers with complex sickness absence cases.
- With support from the HR Partner, act as the main point of contact for managers in delivering agreed organisational change processes and service redesign, providing support to managers and staff in relation to job design, redeployment, redundancy, and TUPE transfers. This includes analysing statistics, identifying trends and making recommendations based on findings.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, staff side representatives and managers at all levels to support operational plans and objectives.
- Contribute to the development of the Trust's desired culture within the HR team and wider organisation.
- Support the HR Partner by undertaking day-to-day supervision of either a HR Advisor or Associate HR Advisor, including conducting 121s, appraisals, return-to-work interviews and providing day-to-day guidance.
- Advise on the implementation and interpretation of national and local agreements and the impact of changes in employment legislation.
- Knowledge of specialist HR topics to postgraduate diploma level acquired through degree and a professional HR qualification or the equivalent level of training and experience; evidence of CPD.
- Experience of undertaking a range of complex employee relations casework including disciplinary and grievance processes.
- Experience of developing and reviewing HR policies.
- Experience of supporting organisational change management processes.
- Experience or demonstrable understanding of TUPE regulations; knowledge of fair recruitment and selection practices.
- Experience of working within a unionised environment.
- Experience of working within the NHS or public sector environment.
- Experience with workforce systems (e.g., ESR).
- Experience of NHS job matching/evaluation.
- Experience of providing supervision to more junior colleagues.
- Understanding of principles of good, effective employment practice.
- Demonstrable knowledge of UK employment law, including fair/unfair dismissal and redundancy.
- Understanding of equal opportunities/diversity and recruitment and selection processes; awareness of current NHS challenges.
- Understanding of workforce planning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
