As a Porter at Sodexo in Royal Stoke Hospital, you'll be an essential part of the hospital's daily operations.

  • Safely moving patients, vital equipment, and medical supplies throughout the site. With professionalism and a friendly approach, you'll help reduce the stress of hospital visits for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
Responsibilities
  • Guide patients, visitors, and staff to the correct hospital locations.
  • Handle waste collection and recycling while maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Follow all relevant policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Safely transport patients between wards using appropriate equipment and care.
  • Deliver specimens, samples, and blood products securely across departments.
  • Support with respectful transfer of deceased patients.
  • Provide additional porter services such as mail delivery, pharmacy runs, moving furniture, and transporting records or stock.
Qualifications
  • Physical stamina and ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
  • Awareness of health and safety practices in a hospital setting.
  • Calmness under pressure and adaptability to changing tasks.
  • A strong team ethic with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • An understanding of confidentiality, emotional resilience, and sensitivity in difficult situations.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • A helpful, patient-focused attitude and commitment to delivering excellent customer care.
